Defining Health

Health has been defined earlier on this website as

A complete (positive) sense of physical, psychological and social well-being; an ability to function in the community without pain and anxiety, with confidence that care and comfort will be available in times of illness for a natural life span.
(E. Price in Supramedicine. 1997)

This definition rests on our understanding that health is based on a “sense of … well-being”. By definition, this is a “subjective measure”.

Health that can be measured is called “health status” and this “measurement” can only be achieved by “asking” the patient.

This website now provides the world’s most accurate measures of health related quality of life or health status current technology permits.

It now makes these available to physicians, health professionals and hospitals to add to their tools to provide quality health care to their patients.
